Rakel's inquiry questions

What have we noticed about introduced predators in our green space? They are destroying our environment. Devouring the new growth leaves on our native trees which causes them to die or in other words become extinct. If there is no trees left in new zealand that means we have no more oxygen.

What we know already about introduced predators: they eat our fruit and flowers that our insects and native creatures need to live or survive and there were be less food for the insects and creatures. They eat some of our native creatures which means that we will have less native creatures in nz.The possums breed lots 2 babies is one year and they will get more and more which causes them to eat more and more.

Our prediction about introduced predators is: introduced predators are bad to our environment because they devour the new growth leaves off our native trees which causes the trees to die or in other words become extinct and if they become extinct that means we have no more oxygen. The pests eat our fruit and flowers which causes our native animals to have less food and they can’t pollinate.

What do we wonder about introduced predators? What they are capable of and if they do anything else in the night time like if they eat more new growth leaves from trees and more fruits and flowers.

How can we help get rid of pests? We could place more traps down in the forest so that the traps can kill the pests and make them become extinct. another idea the fur industry can send more hunters to hunt them and kill them for their fur.hire people could get money/ching ching and kill them for more ching ching.

How can we find out the answer to this question? We could read some news articles or read some reading slips that tells you information about pests and what is going on to them. Or our school can bring a nz pest trap setter like that zoo guy that came to our school. We could also put cameras up in the woods let it vidoe for a couple days and then watch the footage.
